Goals from Arjen Robben, Davy Klassen and two from Joel Veltman helped the Dutch into a commanding 4-0 lead with 20 minutes to go.
And Janssen, who also scored against Morocco earlier this week, sealed a comprehensive win by tapping home a fifth from close range on 75 minutes.
But the 22-year-old forward, a £17 million signing from AZ Alkmaar last summer, also made headlines for the wrong reasons after pulling a close-range effort wide of the post in a gilt-edged opportunity which won’t have surprised many Spurs fans.
Janssen, who also won the penalty which led to his country’s open and later set up Klaasen, struggled in a major way for Tottenham last season, netting six goals – three of which were penalties – in 37 appearances across all competitions.
