Several Tottenham fans are adamant that they never want to see Serge Aurier play for the club again after Spurs’ defeat in the North London derby on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were comfortably beaten on an incredibly disappointing afternoon for the visitors. Tottenham actually led 2-1 at the break, but Arsenal turned the game on its head in the second-half, scoring three times to secure the 4-2 win.

In truth, no Spurs player should be particularly happy with their performance at the Emirates, and a few of the squad endured the kind of afternoon that they would have only envisaged in their nightmares.

Aurier was arguably one of those who proved to be hugely disappointing. With Kieran Trippier still sidelined, the Ivory Coast international had a fantastic chance to win some of his doubters over.

But he is now clearly facing an even greater battle trying to win the fans round. Aurier made a couple of mistakes and gave away a number of fouls as he struggled to cope with Arsenal’s options on their left flank. He also did not cover himself in glory with his marking for the home side’s second goal as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the back of the net from outside the box.

It was a performance that has convinced plenty of supporters that Pochettino needs to hand Kyle Walker-Peters a chance as many would clearly not mind seeing Aurier not feature again anytime soon.
