Tottenham today confirmed the departure of Ryan Mason to Hull City, via their official website.

The 25-year old leaves Spurs after eighteen years at the club, where he worked his way through the academy and various loan spells before breaking into the first-team under Mauricio Pochettino.

Mason played a starring role in Pochettino’s first season at Spurs and his energetic and combative displays quickly won over supporters.

The England international has since slipped down the pecking order however, and would have struggled for game time had he remained at White Hart Lane this season.

He joins the Tigers for a club-record fee in excess of the £10 million paid for Abel Hernandez two years ago, according to BBC Sport, and becomes their second signing of the summer.

The Lilywhites have been ruthless in shipping out those deemed surplus to requirements and Mason joins the likes of Nacer Chadli and Nabil Bentaleb in being shown the door.
