Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Bleacher Report, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a January move for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge as they look to boost their attacking options.

Spurs needed to bring in cover for star striker Harry Kane over the summer, and they did just that by landing Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar; a solid deal on the face of it, given that the 22-year-old hit 31 goals for AZ last season and cost Spurs £18.6m (Sky Sports).

However, Kane suffered an ankle injury against Sunderland back in September and spent almost two months on the sidelines, leaving Janssen to lead the line – and the Dutch international has yet to really justify his transfer fee.

Janssen has scored just three goals in all competitions for Spurs, and all three have come from the penalty spot, meaning he’s still waiting for his first goal from open play, and whilst Kane is now back from injury, many are wondering whether Spurs will move for another striker during the January transfer window.

Intriguingly, Bleacher Report claim that Spurs actually weighed up a summer move for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, and could return with a January move for the England international – despite any move appearing to be as un-Daniel Levy as it gets, given the fee and wages that would be involved in a deal for Sturridge.

Sturridge, 27, has been a bit-part player under Jurgen Klopp so far this season, starting just four Premier League games, and The Mirror reported earlier this week that Sturridge could leave Anfield in January.

A move to White Hart Lane would be a surprise, but Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react to the rumours – and many would like to see Sturridge join the club in the new year.

Many suggested that Sturridge has the quality that Spurs lack in the final third, with some thinking that he can bring the ‘X factor’ that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are missing, whilst his rapport with England team-mates and Spurs stars like Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and star man Kane were also noted.

Some aren’t so sure, claiming that the reason Sturridge isn’t in the Liverpool side is because of his inability to press, which is so vital to Pochettino’s tactics, meaning he’d be a poor fit for Tottenham.
