Tottenham Hotspur will have to spend big if they are to tempt Crystal Palace into selling Wilfried Zaha this summer.

The Times report Palace are demanding £40 million for Zaha, who has been in the form of his life over the past two months.

A deal would be a record signing for Tottenham as well as the highest ever fee received by Palace.

Zaha faces Tottenham this evening in the Premier League at Selhurst Park, where he will be determined to make an impression.

The Times‘ report suggests Zaha is keen on a potential move this summer, but Palace are determined to hold onto him and will not sell on the cheap.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has a reputation as a shrewd negotiator, although this went out the window last summer when they blew £30 million on signing Moussa Sissoko on deadline day.

Spurs could raise funds to buy Zaha by selling the Frenchman this summer and one or two others, but the poor Sissoko transfer is likely to make Tottenham wary about spending huge figures.

Zaha is the most expensive of any winger linked to Tottenham so far in 2017, yet he does have plenty of Premier League experience, which could be vital in his success if he signs.

His performance this evening could go some way to convincing Spurs whether or not to meet Palace’s valuation.
