Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane picked up an injury at the weekend in the win over Sunderland, stretchered off the pitch.

The BBC report Spurs are officially setting no time frame over his length of absence – but The Guardian report he faces eight weeks on the sidelines.

This is a blow for Tottenham, but also an opportunity to see if summer signing Vincent Janssen can step up.

It is not ideal, but they were prepared for the eventuality, and when comparing to the length of time Arsenal rival Jack Wilshere has missed with ankle injuries, eight weeks out for Kane is not too bad.

Here is a look at how Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the news Kane could face almost two months out of action…

Kane has played solidly for two years including two summer tournaments, and this has led to a series of sluggish performances early this season.

While difficult for Tottenham to negotiate in the short term, a spell on the sidelines could be good from a long term perspective for Kane, and also allow the team a chance to show what they can do without him.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino will learn a lot about his players and while Kane’s injury should not be underestimated, it is not all doom and gloom just yet.
