Tottenham Hotspur have yet to add any new signings this summer, but are bound to be in the market for new signings to boost Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

With a move to their new stadium and Champions League football once again on the horizon, fans are keen to see big additions – but that doesn’t seem likely right now.

Nice's French forward Alassane Plea celebrates after scoring a goal during the French L1 football match between Troyes and Nice on April 1, 2018 at the Aube Stadium in Troyes.

Just days ago, Footmercato reported that Tottenham were moving away from their pursuit of Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial, and were looking at a more cost-effective option in Nice’s Alassane Plea.

Plea, 25, actually came up through the Lyon ranks alongside Martial, but left in 2014 in order to join Nice, where he has been a regular ever since.

The versatile forward, who can play out wide or up front, just like Martial, has hit 44 goals in 134 games for Nice, including 21 goals in 49 appearances last season.

A former French youth international, Plea has impressed in French football, particularly over the last two years, and he may now feel that the time is right to move on and bring his four years with Nice to an end.

Spurs may now look to pursue him as competition for Harry Kane in attack whilst also offering depth out wide, but despite possessing pace, power and goalscoring ability, Tottenham fans don’t seem too impressed.

Tottenham supporters have taken to Twitter to suggest that chairman Daniel Levy is ‘so predictable’ as the club will end up targeting a budget alternative to Martial or Gareth Bale, with many fearing that he will become the next Clinton Njie or Georges-Kevin Nkoudou – and some joked that Danny Rose will have to Google another potential Spurs signing if Pochettino does pursue him.
