Who knew that the strangest transfer rumour of 2016 would come days after the summer transfer window closed.
Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb claimed an exclusive yesterday, reporting that Emmanuel Adebayor was in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a return.

While yes, Adebayor may be a former vice-captain of the club, he is player who they have only just finished paying, and was hardly a fan favourite.
Spurs were still contributing to a portion of his wages while he was at Crystal Palace last season, despite terminating his deal last September.
Little at the club has changed to suggest Spurs would be open to bringing back the Togolese striker.

Mauricio Pochettino remains head coach, Daniel Levy is still chairman, but Tottenham’s strike options are even better, with Vincent Janssen signed, and promising talent Shayon Harrison a year closer to first team football.
