Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they are unlikely to have Mousa Dembele available over the rest of the year.
A number of Spurs fans have implored Daniel Levy to act after Tottenham confirmed on their official website that Mousa Dembele is looking set to be sidelined for the rest of the year.
Dembele lasted just seven minutes of Spurs’ win over Wolves at the weekend as he suffered an ankle injury. And the club have now announced that he has suffered ligament damage and is likely to be out until January.
The news is a blow for Mauricio Pochettino’s side who face 12 games between now and the turn of the year, including their two crucial Champions League games against Inter Milan and Barcelona.
While many Spurs fans have obviously wished the Belgian well, plenty have suggested that the setback is another reminder of how much of a mistake it was not to bolster their ranks in the summer.
Tottenham arguably have options, but it is going to be a struggle for their remaining midfielders to fill the void that Dembele leaves whenever he is out of the side.
Some supporters have suggested that it is imperative that the club strengthen their options during the January transfer window, while it has also been said that it is time to look to move Dembele on as it is becoming more and more difficult to rely on the 31-year-old.
