Spurs face Ajax in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League semi-final opponents Ajax have been handed a major boost in the shape of the KNVB (Dutch FA) moving an entire round of Eredivisie fixtures to accomodate their team’s progress to the latter stages of the competition.
Originally set for 28 April, matchday 33 of the Dutch first division will now take place on 15 May after the Netherlands’ football governing body came to an agreement with the rest of the clubs in the league, as reported by Reuters.
Ajax were due to play relegation-battling De Graafschap two days before their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 30 April, before Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel to Amsterdam for the second leg on 8 May.
Erik ten Hag’s charges reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 22 years after coming from behind to beat Juventus 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday and win 3-2 on aggregate, another major scalp after Real Madrid were vanquished in the last 16.
