Lewis Holtby spent two seasons at Tottenham Hotspur as he made a switch to Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter reacted with surprise as they found out that Lewis Holtby was scoring his first goal for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship over the weekend.
The 29-year-old joined Rovers on a free transfer in the summer and netted his first goal for Tony Mowbray’s side as they recorded a 2-2 draw at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
As Holtby’s name started running through the systems that he had netted his first goal for Rovers, the Spurs fans couldn’t believe where he had ended up, as they spoke about his recent fall.
Whilst they would have been pleased with Holtby scoring, they were more taken aback by the fact that he was putting the ball into the back of the net in the second-tier of English football.
Holtby played for Spurs between 2013-15, and when he left White Hart Lane, he ended up at Fulham, and later on in Germany’s top-tier with Hamburg.

He left the German club in the summer and ended up making the perhaps surprise switch to England’s second-tier, and to Ewood Park.
Whilst Blackburn will be hoping to earn promotion to the Premier League, it would be a surprise if they were to finish in the top-six this season.
But in Holtby, and in highly-rated talent Bradley Dack, they have two players who can score the goals that can fire them up the table.
At this moment in time, Blackburn are sitting 14th in the table, six points outside of the play-off places, as Rovers fans need some serious consistency from Holtby and Dack if they are to challenge for those big prizes
Nonetheless, this is how Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to their former player, Holtby netting his first goal for Blackburn:
