Tottenham Hotspur coasted into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Championship side Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

Spurs, who had beaten Aston Villa and Wycombe Wanderers in previous rounds of the FA Cup, were in desperate need of a result after defeats to Liverpool and Gent in recent days.

Mauricio Pochettino subsequently fielded a strong side to take on Fulham, and they notched an early goal as Kieran Trippier’s quick throw-in allowed Christian Eriksen to cross for Harry Kane to open the scoring.

Trippier was again involved in the second goal, finding Eriksen who crossed for striker Kane to grab his second of the game, before Dele Alli threaded the ball through for Kane to seal his hat-trick.

The result was a major boost for Spurs ahead of Thursday’s return leg against Gent in the Europa League, and the win set up a quarter-final clash with London rivals Millwall.

Whilst Pochetitno fielded a strong side at Craven Cottage, one fringe player was handed a start, as Kieran Trippier came in at right back for Kyle Walker, and certainly took his chance to shine.

The full back was excellent throughout, possessing real attacking threat and superb crossing ability, again showing that he’s a more than adept stand-in whenever Walker isn’t playing.

After the game, Spurs fans raved about Trippier’s display, suggesting that he could really push Walker for a starting spot, and they wish Trippier could play at left back given Ben Davies’ struggles in place of Danny Rose.
