England’s under-19 side bowed out of the European championships with a valiant 2-1 loss against Italy.
The Three Lions had gone 2-0 down before staging a late fightback, with their strike coming from an Italian own goal.
In midfield the standout player was Tottenham’s Josh Onomah, playing as a box-to-box midfielder as opposed to the purely attacking role he was given during his brief cameos for the first team last season.

Onomah featured throughout the group stages and while his displays were overshadowed there by excellent Chelsea attacker Izzy Brown, against Italy he stepped up and really drove his side on.
England’s exit ahead of the final on Sunday could allow Onomah, and clubmate Kyle Walker-Peters, the chance to join up with Tottenham for their pre-season tour.

Onomah will be keen to impress if he gets any opportunities for Spurs, especially with the club still considering adding another attacker.
Competition for places in the squad is tough, and he will hope his European performances can act as a springboard.
