After being left out by Mauricio Pochettino for Tottenham Hotspur’s first three Premier League games, Jan Vertonghen has returned to the starting XI on a regular basis and has produced a number of indifferent performances.

Tottenham supporters on Twitter have fumed at Jan Vertonghen comments their 7-2 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Centre-back Vertonghen urged the ‘people to keep supporting us’ as he believes that Spurs can ‘overcome this situation’, as quoted by Last Word on Spurs.
But it is something that the Tottenham faithful have all heard before as they voiced their frustration, anger and disappointment towards the player.
There’s no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have regressed since reaching the Champions League final in June and there’s no signs that things will get better.
Vertonghen wasn’t initially selected by Pochettino at the start of the campaign, but the senior star was brought back into the fold for the North London derby.

Whilst Pochettino’s side showed signs of improving – i..e the first half v Arsenal, win against Palace and the win against Southampton, there have been too many indifferent performances
Vertonghen is a player who has been coping some stick from the Spurs faithful, who will now demand a response when they take on Brighton on Saturday lunchtime.
Another poor performance and dropped points will only increase the pressure on the players and the manager, who will be worrying about their top-four status if things don’t improve.
Here is a selection of Tottenham supporters on Twitter reacting to Vertonghen’s comments:
