Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Marseille defender Hiroki Sakai this summer.

A number of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from Sky Sports this week suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing Marseille right-back Hiroki Sakai this summer.
Spurs fans are hoping for a big window after the club came so close to glory this past season. But it appears that some of the names on Pochettino’s shopping list have caught some of the supporters by surprise.
Sky Sports claimed that Sakai is on Tottenham’s wishlist, but the club have concerns about pursuing a 29-year-old when their priority is players who are under the age of 23 this summer.
The Japan international made 27 Ligue 1 appearances this past season, scoring once and contributing four assists. He also played four times in the Europa League.

The news that Spurs want Sakai has not gone down at all well with the Tottenham supporters on social media. While Kieran Trippier did not have the best year and Serge Aurier has struggled to win all of his critics round, it is clear that plenty doubt whether Sakai would be any sort of upgrade.
Some fans are questioning the report suggesting that Spurs will pursue Sakai given that they have rarely shown interest in players as old as the full-back. And others appear to be hoping that the club’s reported concerns about his age will put Pochettino off a move.
