Tottenham Hotspur fans saw the funny side as the new Arsenal man fluffed his lines on the big stage.

Switzerland bowed out of Euro 2016 on Saturday via the cruel method of a penalty shootout as Poland progressed into the quarter-finals.
Xherdan Shaqiri’s superb overhead kick on 82 minutes cancelled out Jakub Blaszczykowski’s first-half opener and forced the contest into extra time.
There, nothing could separate both sides but, if any team did look like winning, it was the Swiss, though penalties were needed in the end.

Arsenal’s £35 million new signing Granit Xhaka had been Switzerland’s unsung hero in the group stages, but he was the villain of the piece yesterday.
The 23-year-old midfielder went for power instead of precision and smashed his spot-kick wide of Lukasz Fabianski’s goal early on in the shootout, with Poland scoring all of their five to advance with a 5-4 win.
Arsenal fans would have been disappointed for their new man, but Tottenham Hotspur supporters took full advantage of the error on Twitter afterwards.

Tottenham wrapped up a Xhaka-like player in the form of Victor Wanyama for £11 million this week.
The new Spurs signing will rival Eric Dier for Tottenham’s anchor man role next term.
