Tottenham Hotspur moved themselves back into the Premier League’s top four with a win at Wembley.
Erik Lamela
Tottenham fans have been heaping praise upon Erik Lamela on Twitter after he made his first start in around 14 months in Spurs’ victory over Brighton and Hove Albion that moves them up to fourth in the top flight.
Lamela had been brought on as a second-half substitute in Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s last three Premier League games and had shown signs that he was getting back up to speed after such a lengthy spell out of the team.

And he was rewarded for those bright cameos – which included an assist coming in the game away at Leicester towards the end of November – by being handed a starting spot for the clash against Chris Hughton’s side.
It was an encouraging night for Spurs, with goals from Serge Aurier and Heung-min Son scoring towards the end of each half seeing them secure a solid 2-0 win that sees them leap ahead of Liverpool, Burnley and Arsenal in the table.

Lamela’s performance generally came in for plenty of praise on social media from Tottenham supporters – with many even suggesting that the Argentinian was the best player on the pitch in the victory.
And his display has given a number of fans the encouragement that he could deserve to keep his starting place for the daunting trip to Manchester City at the weekend.
Here is the best of the reaction…
