Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters is reportedly on Southampton’s radar.
Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports coming out of The Sun over the weekend which suggested that Southampton are eyeing up a loan move for Kyle Walker-Peters this month.
It has been a fairly frustrating season for Walker-Peters in a campaign that started so brightly for the 20-year-old. The right-back started in Spurs’ opening day win away at Newcastle and was awarded the man of the match award.
However, that remains his one Premier League start of the season, while he has only made one substitute appearance in the top flight since. And he arguably missed a brilliant opportunity to stake a claim for more game-time as he put in a disappointing performance in the FA Cup draw with Newport County at the weekend.
So, could that prove to be Walker-Peters’ last appearance of the season for Tottenham?
The Sun reports that Southampton and Swansea are keen on signing the youngster on loan for the rest of the campaign, with the Saints currently leading the charge.
Interestingly, the news has received a mixed reaction on social media amongst the Spurs fans. The majority of the supporters appear to believe that a temporary switch to St Mary’s would be beneficial for the academy graduate.
However, there are some concerns regarding whether a move to Southampton would see Walker-Peters get the game-time he wants or whether he would be better off heading elsewhere.
