Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost with Harry Winks signing a new contract with the club.

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Harry Winks has signed a new contract with Spurs that is set to run until 2023.
Winks has been missing due to injury since February, but has played an important role for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term, making 16 Premier League appearances and playing five times in the Champions League as Spurs reached the knockout stages of the competition.

The 22-year-old looks set to become the latest academy graduate to feature regularly in the first-team, and that has been confirmed with the club announcing on their official website that he is now tied down until 2023.
Unsurprisingly, the news has gone down extremely well amongst the Tottenham fans on social media. Many feel that Winks has earned the fresh terms based on the way that he has adapted to the demands of the first-team, and there is an excitement regarding how important to the team he could become in the future.

He could potentially become a first-team regular as early as next season it appears, with the Daily Mail recently reporting that Spurs may consider summer offers for Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama. While Pochettino is surely likely to try and replace either if they move on, Winks will certainly have to be considered for a more prominent role if either leave.
And based on the reaction to news of his contract extension, it appears that the Tottenham fans are more than confident that he will be ready to step into a more demanding role when he is required.
Here is the best of the reaction to the news…
