Tottenham Hotspur were handed a huge boost today as they confirmed on their official website that playmaker Christian Eriksen has signed a new four-year deal with the club.
Spurs have extended the contracts of a number of players, with Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino moving to keep the talented core of young players at White Hart Lane – and now Eriksen has followed suit.

The 24-year-old playmaker was signed from Ajax back in the summer of 2013, and became a key player under Andre Villas-Boas following Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid.
The Dane has hit 30 goals in 137 games for Tottenham, and become one of the most deadly set-piece takers in the Premier League having caused mayhem from free kicks and corners over the last three years.

Heading into the final two years of his contract at White Hart Lane, some fans had become concerned that Eriksen’s contract situation was damaging his performances, having endured a disappointing start to the season.
However, Eriksen today put pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract with Tottenham, with the London Evening Standard reporting that his new deal is worth £75,000-a-week.
After the news was confirmed earlier today, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to give their views on Eriksen’s stay, with a huge sense of relief clear to see.

Many fans praised the club for keeping another key player at the club, as in years gone by, Tottenham have sold their top players on, with the likes of Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Bale all springing to mind.
Others pointed out that Eriksen’s form hasn’t been good enough of late, and they hope that with the contract now sorted, he can get his head down and make a huge impact again going forward.
