Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Michel Vorm will be at the club again next season.

A number of Tottenham fans have taken to social media after the club confirmed that they have triggered the one-year option in Michel Vorm’s contract, and it appears that much of the opinion is divided.
Vorm joined Spurs back in 2014 but has spent his time with the club as Hugo Lloris’ understudy. The former Swansea ace has made just 11 Premier League appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, while he has managed to play 18 times in the FA Cup.

His contract was set to expire this summer, and many Spurs fans would have been forgiven for thinking that the 34-year-old was likely to be on his way having played an understudy role since his arrival. Paulo Gazzaniga performed superbly on his Spurs debut this past season, and it seemed to make sense to promote the younger stopper to the number two position.
However, Spurs have now confirmed that the one-year option in Vorm’s contract has been activated, seemingly confirming that he will remain as Lloris’ backup during the coming campaign.

For the majority of Tottenham fans on social media, it appears to be very good news. Vorm has proved himself to be a superb second choice – it is difficult to argue that there are many better in the Premier League – and it is seen as a smart move to keep him.
However, others are urging Spurs to get on with signing players or tying down those who are much more important to the squad. Unsurprisingly, Toby Alderweireld’s future is mentioned by one fan as a much more pressing concern.
Here is what some of the Tottenham supporters made of Vorm’s new deal…
