Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly winning the race to sign Genk midfielder Sander Berge ahead of north London rivals Arsenal – and Spurs fans reacted on Twitter in excited fashion.

TeamTalk claim Spurs are winning the race to land the 20-year-old sensation, who has a price tag of £13.7million. Arsenal are also said to be keen on the youngster, who has already earned 12 Norway caps.

Everton and West Ham are also tracking the central midfielder, but Spurs are out in front in the running to land Berge as they look for a replacement for Mousa Dembele.

The Belgian is out of contract at Spurs next summer and a contract does not seem to be in the offing. The report claims Spurs are trying to usher Dembele out the exit door and on a plane to Asia.

More than a decade his junior, Berge would be brought in as his replacement. The midfielder has starred for Genk in his 62 senior outings, after joining the Belgian side in 2017 from Norwegian outfit Valerenga.

Standing at a lofty 6ft 4in, Berge boasts plenty of technical ability for a big man alongside his strength in the air. He mirrors much of what Dembele is about, and that has Spurs fans excited on Twitter.
