Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim La Liga giants Sevilla are interesting in offering Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen an escape route away from his nightmare spell in north London – and Spurs fans are all for the move.

The 23-year-old managed just six goals during 2016-17 as Harry Kane’s back-up, following his £17million move from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2016.

It saw the Holland international replaced by Fernando Llorente, and in-turn shipped out on loan to Turkish giants Fenerbahce where injury has interrupted his season-long loan. He has scored five goals in 18 outings.

Janssen is expected to return to Spurs for pre-season, but Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be active in this summer’s window and a new striker will surely be high on his priorities in the transfer market. Axing Janssen, then, seems inevitable.

Despite his poor form, Sevilla are said to be interested in landing the powerful striker, with Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg also on their wishlist as they look to add a striker to their squad this summer.

Tottenham fans have reacted to the news that Janssen could be sold to Sevilla, with the majority urging the La Liga outfit to take the flop striker off their hands.

One fan Tweeted: “no refunds”, claiming that Sevilla may come to regret the decision to buy Janssen.
