Swansea City’s Joel Asoro claims he has rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur missed on making a single signing this summer as they were the only Premier League team to not bring in any additions.

Spurs appeared to be an appealing proposition given that they finished third in the Premier League last season, have Champions League football to offer and are set to move into their new stadium.

However, they couldn’t bring in any signings, and were actually snubbed by players, including now-Swansea City forward Joel Asoro.

Asoro, 19, was allegedly wanted by Spurs, with The Sun reporting that they actually pulled out of a deal to sign him from Sunderland over his agent’s demands.

However, Asoro has now discussed the situation with AftonBladet back in his native Sweden, and revealed that he in fact turned down a move to Tottenham over a perceived lack of playing time.

Asoro instead chose a move to Swansea under a manager familiar with Swedish football in Graham Potter, and has registered one assist in five Championship games.

Now, Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react to his comments, with one suggesting that Asoro has made a big mistake in rejecting a move to Spurs in order to join Swansea.

Others don’t feel that Asoro would have made a great difference to the Spurs side, and some noted that it’s hard for Spurs to bring in a striker to play second fiddle to Kane, with Asoro clearly not the man for the job.
