Several Spurs fans have expressed their excitement after Tottenham posted a video and a number of images on Twitter showing the squad getting on the plane ahead of their Champions League semi-final second-leg on Wednesday, with Erik Lamela amongst those travelling to the Netherlands.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men head into the second-leg needing to come from a goal down after Ajax produced an outstanding display during the first-leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One problem Spurs had on that night was the lack of attacking options that Pochettino could bring off the bench with Harry Kane injured and Heung-min Son suspended.

But they have received a big boost. The Telegraph reported earlier this week that Lamela was hoping to join the squad having spent more than two months on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

Lamela’s most recent appearance came in the stunning last 16 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Germany. But it appears that he may be in contention to feature in Amsterdam.

The Argentinian was seen getting onto the plane with the rest of the squad, and a number of Tottenham supporters were delighted to see that the 27-year-old is travelling. He certainly has the potential to make something special happen, and that could be crucial with the tie so finely poised.
