Mauricio Pochettino’s job as Tottenham Hotspur manager may not be as secure as it once was.
Tottenham Hotspur supporters are reacting on Twitter after the former Barcelona midfielder, Xavi, revealed his goal is to manage a club like theirs in the Premier League.
Xavi, who is the current manager of Al Sadd in Qatar, told Sky Sports: “That is my goal (to work in the Premier League), but obviously, who doesn’t like the Premier League? The football atmosphere, the packed stadiums and the people who play in the Premier League say it’s extraordinary.
“Obviously if I had to choose, I would choose a big team, [Manchester] City or United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham.
“Also, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Mauricio] Pochettino and Unai Emery, many people who have gone there are doing an extraordinary job.”
Tottenham, of course, have a manager of their own in Mauricio Pochettino, who has led them into the Champions League four seasons running and to last year’s final, where they were beaten by Liverpool.
But a mixed start to the new campaign has seen Pochettino’s detractors increase and a change of boss has been one of the main topics of conversation surrounding Spurs of late.
Would Xavi’s appointment be welcomed by the Tottenham faithful, however? After all, for all the trophies he won with both Barcelona and Spain, he is still in his first few months of management.
