Tottenham Hotspur’s long wait for a trophy goes on after losing 1-0 to Manchester City in today’s Carabao Cup final.
Ryan Mason only managed his first game on Wednesday, but was thrown into a huge game today against Pep Guardiola’s City side.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, City dominated the ball and Spurs had to try and dig in and defend, though they did become a little more adventurous in the second half.
Spurs couldn’t hit City on the break though, and after frustrating City from open play, they ended up conceding from a set piece with Aymeric Laporte heading home a free kick.
Spurs couldn’t drag themselves level, and City’s dominance of the competition continued with yet another final win.
This was of course a disappointing day for Spurs, but if anybody came out with some credit, it was defender Toby Alderweireld as he turned in a strong display.

The Belgian stood strong in the heart of the Spurs defence, helping to frustrate City before Laporte nicked the winner.
Fans are hailing Alderweireld as ‘colossal’ and the best player on the pitch, whilst feeling that he was the only player to turn up for Spurs.
Others believe this showed that Alderweireld is far from finished, and can’t believe that Jose Mourinho left him out recently.
