Marcelo Brozovic starred for Inter Milan as they fought back to a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Croatia international worked tirelessly in midfield to help Inter overturn Christian Eriksen’s opener.
Brozovic is a player who has been regularly linked with a move to Spurs in recent years.
Croatian outlet SportsKE reported last month that Tottenham were considering a £36 million offer.
While that never really seemed likely late in the transfer window, Brozovic would have made a superb addition.
The central midfielder starred at the World Cup and came out on top against Eric Dier in the San Siro last night.
Brozovic had 90 touches, more than any other player on the pitch, completing 86 per cent of his passes.
He was also effective defensively, with his three interceptions only matched by Tottenham’s Serge Aurier.
