Tottenham Hotspur’s top four hopes took a major hit on Sunday afternoon as they lost 3-1 to Manchester United.

Son Heung-min was a key part of the first half; United had a goal ruled out as Scott McTominay was adjudged to have struck Son in the face in the build-up, before Son then went and opened the scoring.

Tottenham were dismal in the second half though, and equalised when Fred fired home from close range, with Edinson Cavani then heading the Red Devils in front.

Mason Greenwood wrapped it up late on with United’s third, leaving Spurs six points adrift of the Champions League places having seen West Ham United beat Leicester City earlier in the day.

With just four points in the last four games and an embarrassing Europa League exit to boot, Jose Mourinho is under huge pressure.

There isn’t much for Spurs fans to shout about today, but the performance of defender Joe Rodon has at least given them a boost.

The Welsh defender was by far Tottenham’s best defender against United, and fans took to Twitter to hail the former Swansea man’s display.

Some called Rodon ‘magic’, and believe that he is the only one in the Spurs defence who actually cares.

Others feel sorry for him given what he has to work with around him, and want to see Spurs build their defence around him moving forward.
