Tottenham boss Pochettino has been punished after Spurs’ delayed start in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has escaped a touchline ban for the Champions League final against Liverpool after UEFA punished Spurs for a late semi-final kick-off.
The Argentine has been given a one-match ban linked to the delayed start of the first leg with Ajax at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as reported by multiple media outlets including BBC Sport.
However, his suspension has been deferred for a probation period of one year, rendering him available to be in the dugout at Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday 1 June for the showpiece against fellow Premier League side Liverpool.
Managers of both clubs are held responsible if a Champions League game does not start on time, regardless of the circumstances, and it is the second time it has happened to Tottenham this season.
The first indiscretion earns a warning, as Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has received, and a repeat offence earns a one-match touchline ban, which is always suspended.
Tottenham have also been fined 10,000 euros (£8,758) for the incident as well as getting a separate 5,000 euro (£4,381) fine for a fan invading the pitch in their quarter-final against Manchester City.
Here is what some of the Lilywhites faithful on Twitter made of the news:
Pochettino already served a two-match Premier League ban after he confronted referee Mike Dean at the end of his side’s defeat at Burnley in February.
