Arsenal star says Gunners deserve Champions League football.

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has invited criticism with his comments about the Gunners ‘deserving’ Champions League football.
The £26.5 million summer signing from Sampdoria said that Arsenal’s status should mean they automatically qualify for UEFA’s most prestigious competition.
Torreira told Sky Sports: “Qualifying is something which is very much on our minds. The squad is focused on qualifying for the Champions League because a big club like Arsenal deserves to be in that competition.”
Perhaps it was just a poor use of words by the Uruguayan, but Torreira misses the point with regards to Champions League qualification.
Only the teams who finish inside the Premier League top four ‘deserve’ to qualify and that is where the debate should end.

Arsenal presently are sixth after an inconsistent run of form over the past two months.
Torreira’s Gunners lag behind North London rivals Tottenham who are in third and appear comfortably the more complete team.
Arsenal currently sit 10 points behind rivals Spurs.
Tottenham fans reacted with amusement to Torreira’s comments…
