Kyle Walker could have a serious threat for his spot at new club Manchester City, and Tottenham fans are amused.
Kyle Walker clinched a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City last week, becoming the world’s most expensive defender.
But if he thought he would be a guaranteed starter at City, he may have to think again.
Danilo at Real Madrid
City have agreed a £26.5 million fee for the Brazilian, beating Chelsea to his signature.
It seems odd for City to invest more than £70 million on two right-backs, but they did not have any real options at the position after letting Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta leave on free transfers.
The fees would suggest Kyle Walker would be first choice, but £26.5 million is hardly an insignificant amount to spend on a back-up.
France v England – International Friendly
Both players are strong going forward and have weaknesses defensively, and they will have to battle it out to win the favour of new boss Pep Guardiola.
The situation has amused fans of Walker’s former club Tottenham, where he lost his place at the end of last season to Kieran Trippier.
Has he moved to another club where he could find himself in the same predicament? His move suddenly looks slightly more risky than it did last Friday.
Here is a look at how Spurs fans reacted to the Danilo reports…
