Tottenham Hotspur scored twice in the final 14 minutes to secure a draw against their Premier League top four rivals.

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise upon Jan Vertonghen after the defender’s excellent performance in their Premier League clash with Liverpool which ended in dramatic fashion at Anfield.
Spurs went into the contest looking to protect their recent unbeaten run which stretches back to mid-December, and they got off to the worst possible start as Mohamed Salah scored inside the first three minutes after a mistake from Eric Dier.

Tottenham arguably showed that they deserved a point as the game continued, and the equaliser did come with 10 minutes of normal time remaining as Victor Wanyama – who does not score often, but seems to have a knack for scoring stunning goals – added another to his collection with a rocket from outside the box.
Harry Kane missed the chance to put Spurs in front from the spot before Salah scored a brilliant solo goal at the start of stoppage-time. Kane would then convert a second penalty in the final moments to ensure that the points would be shared.

There were a number of Mauricio Pochettino’s side who put in encouraging performances on Merseyside, but one of the players who seemed to receive the most praise on social media was Vertonghen.
The Belgian was generally excellent defensively, particularly in the first-half. And that defensive display helped give Spurs the platform to ensure that they were looking for the equaliser in the latter stages rather than a goal that would give them a glimmer of hope.
