Tottenham Hotspur need to make a centre back signing or two this summer, but Joachim Andersen no longer appears to be a top target.
Fabio Paratici must bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s options at the back, and it seems like a day doesn’t go by without a new defender being linked with joining Tottenham.
Lyon centre back Andersen has been linked with Tottenham for months now, having impressed on loan at Fulham last season.
The Dane is heading back to France as things stand, but Lyon are open to selling – and it now looks like Tottenham are backing away.
The Sun claim that Andersen knows of Tottenham’s interest in him, but Paratici may look elsewhere because Lyon want £26million for Andersen.
It may not be that Tottenham can’t afford that, but more that they feel there is better value elsewhere in the transfer market.

That’s what some Tottenham fans think too, believing that Paratici needs to ‘do the right thing’ and spend the money on Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix instead of Andersen.
Others think that the price tag is reasonable for Andersen, urging Tottenham to get the deal done rather than move on to another target, with a real divide in opinion on the defender branded a ‘leader’.
