West Ham United’s David Gold may be regretting a tweet sent on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were both in action on Saturday, but neither of them had a particularly great day.
Spurs travelled down to the South Coast to take on Brighton and Hove Albion, looking to bounce back having lost 7-2 to Bayern Munich in midweek.
However, it was another terrible showing from Mauricio Pochettino’s side, yet again bereft of quality, application and desire as has been the case on a number of occasions recently.
Neal Maupay and Aaron Connolly were on target in the first half, and Connolly added a third in the second half to condemn Spurs to a hammering.
That prompted West Ham co-owner David Gold to take to Twitter to react, updating fans on the scoreline in what appeared to be light-hearted mocking of their London rivals.
However, West Ham then went and lost themselves later in the day, as whilst Sebastien Haller put the Hammers in front, Patrick van Aanholt and Jordan Ayew sealed all three points for Palace.
Gold was left to rue poking fun at Spurs, and Tottenham fans unsurprisingly took to Twitter to send messages to the West Ham man, suggesting that the Hammers never learn when it comes to mocking Spurs before failing themselves.
Some simply copied Gold’s initial tweet by telling him the West Ham score, even adding that even Spurs managed to beat Palace 4-0 at home last month.
