The Tottenham Hotspur right-back had impressed in his early outings but his red card against West Ham United was foolish.

When Tottenham Hotspur signed Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain, their fans knew they were getting a somewhat controversial figure, and they have already seen the best and the worst of the Ivory Coast international on the pitch.
Aurier wasted little time impressing during his early outings for Spurs, looking solid during a 27-minute cameo against Swansea City and excelling in the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

But the 24-year-old’s needless dismissal against West Ham United on Saturday showed the other side of his game, as a reckless and downright foolish hack at Andy Carroll – who was not exactly going to burst forward at pace given his skill set and position on the field at the time – gave the referee no choice but to send him off.
It was daft and it allowed West Ham a way back into the game they thought was lost.
Ultimately Tottenham held firm, but the Hammers were only one strike away from recovering from a three-goal deficit and Aurier would have been to blame had that happened.

He needs to learn to temper his impetuous side, making decisions in his mind before his feet take over, and you can rest assured that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be talking to him about his moment of madness in the coming days.
Aurier is a great talent who could become a Tottenham superstar, but for now the reliability of Kierean Trippier trumps the fiery nature of their summer signing.
