Ndombele was linked with a move to Spurs throughout the summer window.

Tanguy Ndombele shone in the middle of the park for Lyon on Wednesday evening as they shocked Manchester City with a 2-1 win at The Etihad in the Champions League – and Spurs fans are frustrated that they failed to sign the midfielder.
Lyon shocked the hosts as they took a 2-0 lead into the break, thanks to goals from Maxwel Cornet and a superb effort from Nabil Fekir, who has remained with the Ligue 1 outfit despite being heavily linked with Liverpool.
Bernardo Silva got one back for City in the second half but the industrious work ethic of Frenchman Ndombele in midfield helped nullify the likes of David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan.
French newspaper L’Equipe claimed back in August that Spurs made an approach to sign the 21-year-old powerhouse, and also reported that Spurs would be willing to go as high as £35million to sign Ndombele.

On Wednesday night’s showing, that figure would be certainly worth it when taking his age into account, as the future of Mousa Dembele remains up in the air with only a matter of months remaining on his Spurs contract.
Tottenham fans, who are already frustrated following their club’s inability to sign any new players and a disappointing loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday night, were once irritated by Ndombele’s excellent midfield masterclass.
