Eric Dier is on his holidays, but would Tottenham fans prefer he keeps his feet on the ground?
England’s Eric Dier
After a depressing Euro 2016 exit, like the rest of his teammates Eric Dier needed cheering up.
He is currently on his holidays before rejoining the rest of his Tottenham teammates, but will he make it back in one piece?
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino may not be so impressed to see what he has been up to… with Dier sharing an image of him flying high on a jet pack above the sea.
Dier has established himself as a crucial part of Tottenham’s side over the past year, and also as a regular for England.
Spurs fans were quick to respond on Instagram with messages urging him not to do anything which could result in injury.
Here are a selection of responses:
- moodymcmoodersn Looks fun, but for crying out loud, DO NOT GET INJURED!
- sav_cf Ah man. Be careful
- tcoflondon Can’t you just sit by the pool and have a beer @ericdier15 We can’t afford for you to be injured!
- jangirl21 So long as you don’t hurt yourself
- xx_spurs_fan_page_xx Yeah we don’t want you injured coz dembele is still suspended
- teegeemusic Blimey, get down from there immediately young man
But despite the well wishers, there were plenty of negative comments too, not from Tottenham fans but supporters of other clubs, expressing their sentiments that Dier is not allowed to enjoy himself after England’s Euro 2016 failure, despite him being one of the best players for the team.
- joecheatle Like our Euro campaign. Disgraceful.
- zakbrunt17 I bet you survived longer on that than England’s lead survived can iceland
- joelysteele1Glad to see you’re training and making amends for the shambolic display at the euros
- kenzie_deano England are the worst football team ever they lose in amjor tornament and go straight on holiday what idiots
- rhyshoneyjones123 Your doing that after England’s exit in the Euros
Dier could contest that he is more than entitled to go on holiday in the very brief off-season he has, and if he sees the negative comments then he will have even more reason to go and prove a point in the upcoming campaign, that England’s failures were down to management, and Tottenham’s players are as strong as ever.
