Tottenham Hotspur fans are excited after Jose Mourinho hinted that Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele could now play together.
Mourinho explained at his press conference yesterday, which was covered by Football London, that Ndombele’s improving fitness levels mean that he no longer sees the Frenchman solely as a number 10.
The Portuguese boss also hinted that Alli could return alongside Ndombele in Tottenham’s midfield.
He said: “If you remember last season, you remember clearly that Tanguy, even in short periods, he was struggling to keep that intensity.
“Tanguy now is a midfeld player, and that opens the space where is not any more about Tanguy or Dele, Tanguy or Gio, can be Tanguy and Gio, or Tanguy and Dele.”
And Spurs fans are now extremely excited to see the pair linking up, as they feel it could solve a lot of their attacking issues.
Alli has been frozen out at Spurs this season, but Mourinho seemed far more open to the England international coming back into the fold than ever before yesterday.
That may be partly down to recent results, as Spurs have come off the rails in recent weeks, and have not looked the explosive counter-attacking force that they were early on in the season.
Unfortunately for Tottenham supporters they could be waiting a while longer before they see the Alli and Ndombele partnership that they have been dreaming of, even after Mourinho’s latest comments.
Alli is currently out injured, although his return to training is expected to happen sooner rather than later.
