Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided to hand Ben Davies a new contract worth £60,000 a week.
Tottenham’s Ben Davies
Tottenham fans have been reacting on Twitter to a report from The Sun which suggested that Ben Davies was set to be handed a contract extension worth £60,000 a week, and it appears that the supporters are somewhat divided on the news.
Davies has just over two years left on his current deal at White Hart Lane, but The Sun are reporting that Spurs are ready to hand him the new lucrative four-year deal.
For a club so synonymous with keeping to a wage structure, the news that Davies will be paid so much has been met with some surprise by the Tottenham faithful.
The 23-year-old has only made a handful of Premier League starts this season with Mauricio Pochettino continuing to use Danny Rose as his first-choice option of the left-hand side of defence, and yet it could perhaps be argued that his new salary is befitting of someone who is playing much more regularly.

Nevertheless, the majority of supporters have given the news their support. Davies has been in the Tottenham team in recent weeks due to Rose’s injury, and his last two performances have arguably been two of his best display since joining from Swansea.
And with Spurs looking to build a squad capable of making regular title challenges, having players as good as Davies as understudies for the strongest team could be crucial to building a side capable of battling at the summit.
Here is the best of the reaction…
