Tottenham Hotspur have previously wanted West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon, and he is likely to be available this summer.

Tottenham fans have taken to social media to discuss whether Spurs should reignite their previous interest in Salomon Rondon after the Daily Mail reported that the West Brom striker is set to be available for £16.5 million if the Baggies go down this season.
The Mail reports that West Brom being relegated will trigger a clause in the Venezuelan’s contract that will allow him to leave for the eight-figure fee. And while the Mail reports that West Ham are keen on the 28-year-old, the Irons should perhaps expect some competition for his signature.

While there is no indication that they are also keen at this stage, the Mail speculates that Tottenham could join the race, and that may largely be down to their previous interest – which was noted in The Telegraph’s own report on Rondon’s release clause.
Spurs may not actually be in the race right now, but a number of their fans have taken to social media to discuss whether they should make a move for him in the summer with West Brom’s relegation appearing to be something of a formality at this stage.

Interestingly, the suggestion that Tottenham should target Rondon has attracted a mixed response amongst the fans. The 28-year-old’s record in the Premier League is not particularly impressive – though he did score against Spurs at Wembley this season – and some supporters fear that he may turn out to be as disappointing a signing as Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen have been for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
There has also been the suggestion that they should look at poaching Charlie Austin instead, with Southampton also currently in the bottom three. But there has been some support for a move for Rondon given his knowledge of the English game and the fact that he is not set to cost an eye-watering amount.
Here is what the Spurs fans made of the reports regarding Rondon’s release clause…
