Carlo Ancelotti has pretty-much confirmed that Gareth Bale will be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season, amid reports Tottenham have struck a pre-contract agreement. Spurs fans have reacted to Ancelotti’s comments.

Bale, 32, played just his fourth game of the season during a 0-0 draw against Villarreal last time out – lasting 74 minutes. It comes after spending last season on loan at Tottenham, his second Spurs spell, scoring 16 goals.

The Wales ace is out of contract at the end of the season. His lack of availability at Madrid, and the feeling from fans towards him, means a new deal seems unlikely. He has been constantly injured this season.

A back, calf and knee injury – as well as a positive Covid test – has prevented him from playing. Ancelotti responded when asked about Bale’s future and all but stated that he would not be offered a new deal – and he would leave.

“He trains well, he’s professional. He wants to end things here as he deserves to. He’s helped us to win the Champions League. Finishing things well here would be good for his career,” Ancelotti said, as per Marca.

Ancelotti on Bale: Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter

Bale has been an incredible signing for Madrid. Although the last couple of years have seen the Wales star’s form dwindle, he has had a hand in 173 goals in 255 games – including a brace in the 2018 Champions League final.

It is not in the best interests of Madrid, or Bale, to extend his current deal – so it looks as if he will be leaving in the summer. TuttoMercatoWeb say Spurs have already struck a pre-contract agreement to sign Bale.

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter following Ancelotti’s comments, urging their club to bring Bale back to the club for a third spell.
