Plenty of debate has been had over whether Tottenham need a new striker.

Clive Allen has told TalkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur do not need to sign a new striker in the January transfer window despite Harry Kane’s lengthy ankle injury – and Spurs fans have criticised their former player and caretaker manager.
Kane, 25, suffered an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, and it has since been confirmed the England captain will be ruled out until the middle of March,
Spurs are light in the final third because of Kane’s injury, but also because Son Heung-min is currently competing with South Korea in the Asian Cup. He is expected to be unavailable until February 1 at the very latest.
Allen, who played for Spurs for four years between 1984 and 1988 before acting as caretaker manager on two occasions in 2007 and 2008, believes it would be unwise for Spurs to sign a new striker.
“I think they can cope,” Allen said. “I think it would be unwise to really splash out heavily at this moment in time.”

Tottenham do have Fernando Llorente as an option, though the Spaniard has only scored four goals this season – three of which came in the form of a hat-trick against Tranmere in the 7-0 FA Cup win.
Vincent Janssen remains on the comeback from a foot injury and has made two appearances for the club’s reserve side this month, but Spurs fans have criticised Allen for his comments and want a new striker to be signed.
