Tottenham Hotspur made it three wins in five Premier League games as they beat Sunderland 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday evening.

Spurs had claimed eight points from the first four games of the campaign, and continued that unbeaten start to the campaign thanks to Harry Kane’s second half winner.

After Sunderland failed to clear a cross into the box, Kane snatched the only goal of the game from close range, but that doesn’t quite tell the story of the game.

Tottenham had a staggering 31 shots on goal and 71% of possession as the dominated from start to finish, but could only hit the back of the net once.

Two players have dominated the post-match discussion; a new player looking to make an impression, and a player keen to prove he is good enough to claim a regular place in the Spurs side.

Firstly, midfielder Moussa Sissoko was making his first start for the club since joining from Newcastle United on deadline day, and the Frenchman was handed a role on the right hand side of midfield.

The 27-year-old brought pace and energy to the Spurs side, and fans seemed happy with his White Hart Lane debut, suggesting that he worked hard for the team but can still improve, potentially if manager Mauricio Pochettino changes his position.

Meanwhile, winger Heung-min Son was starting for the third game in a row after a mixed week. Last weekend saw him score twice in a superb win over Stoke City, but he was hauled off at half time against Monaco in midweek.

Against Sunderland though, the South Korean international was sensational, tormenting the Black Cats throughout both by going for goal himself – hitting the post in the first half – and by creating chances for his team-mates.

Tottenham fans took to Twitter to rave about Son’s display after a summer of speculation linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane, claiming that he’s like a new signing due to his massive improvement so far – and even noted that his performance was similar to how Gareth Bale terrorised full backs with Tottenham.
