Finally, Tottenham Hotspur fans can finally look forward to moving into their new stadium, with the game against Crystal Palace set to open their new home.

Spurs were expected to move into their new home back in September, but continued delays have seen Spurs remain at Wembley for many months.

Now though, after a number of test events, Spurs will finally move into their new home on April 3rd, taking on London neighbours Crystal Palace.

The 62,000-seater stadium has looked incredible for months now, but finally it’s suitable for a Premier League game, with Palace the first visitors.

It will be a huge day for all connected with Spurs, and that includes Palace winger Andros Townsend, who will be facing his former club on their big day.

The 27-year-old came up through the Spurs ranks having joined way back in 2000, and a homegrown Tottenham boy coming back to play in one of the club’s historic days will be a major storyline.

Townsend ultimately fell out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino in 2015, and was sold to Newcastle in January 2016 before heading on to Palace just months later after Newcastle’s relegation.

Now, Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to predict that Townsend – rather than Harry Kane – will be the first goalscorer at Tottenham’s new home, believing he will come back to haunt the club with a historic goal, in what would be an emotional moment for the player and possibly the fans, who have watched him develop from a kid to a Premier League regular.
