Tottenham Hotspur fans are now convinced that Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson is actually a better central defender than Eric Dier.
Henderson has had to step into Liverpool’s defence due to a series of injuries, but the £20 million man (BBC Sport) looked very comfortable against Spurs last night.
The Reds picked up a 3-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, with Dier’s performance not up to scratch.
The England international badly struggled up against Liverpool’s attacking might.
And Spurs actually think that Henderson makes a better central defender than Dier or any of their other centre-backs at this stage.
Henderson may well have to stay at centre-back for Jurgen Klopp’s side for the foreseeable future, as their injury problems are getting worse rather than better.
Liverpool lost another defender last night, with Joel Matip suffering an injury.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have shown defensive frailties all season, despite having one of the more impressive records in the Premier League.
None of Spurs’s current centre-back options have looked entirely convincing, and last night’s display really exposed a lack of quality.

Dier and Joe Rodon both made huge errors, with Hugo Lloris in goal also having an extremely poor game.
Spurs do have options in reserve in Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Toby Alderweireld, but Mourinho doesn’t seem to have a great deal of faith in any of the trio.
And it will now be very interesting to see Tottenham’s defensive line-up against Brighton & Hove Albion in their next match.
