Could Josh Onomah be the latest young Englishman to make a significant impact in Tottenham Hotspur’s first team?
As many as four Spurs stars made it into Gareth Southgate’s squad for October’s World Cup qualifiers, with Harry Kane certain to have bumped that figure up to five had he been fit.
And while it’s still early days yet, Onomah certainly looks like one to keep an eye on.
The 19-year-old, who scored his first senior goal in Tottenham’s recent 5-0 win against Gillingham, marked his England Under-21 debut – another 5-0 success, against Bosnia & Herzegovina – with the third of his side’s strikes, a firm finish low into the bottom left-hand corner.
And despite being overshadowed somewhat by Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham (who scored twice) and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish (who provided a hat-trick of assists, including one for Onomah), the winger’s display still attracted its fair share of praise – from Tottenham fans and neutrals alike.
