Tottenham have reportedly reignited their interest in RB Salzburg prospect Roko Simic, with the 18-year-old striker enjoying a breakout season out on loan with Liefering.

According to Goal, Antonio Conte’s side continue to keep tabs on the Croatian youngster, with Simic seen by many as the next big talent to break through at the Austrian giants and the youngster drawing comparisons to former Salzburg star Erling Haaland.

Standing at 6’3”, Simic caught the eye of many clubs in his native Croatia after becoming the youngest scorer ever for Lokomotiva Zagreb, impressing Salzburg enough to spend €4m (£3.4m) for the teenager, and next season could be the one where the youngster explodes onto the scene.

Also compared to Dusan Vlahovic, who this summer moved to Juventus for a reported €75m (£62m) despite strong interest from Tottenham and Fabio Paratici, Simic could replace Karim Adeyemi at Salzburg next season, with the German expected to leave Austria for a club-record transfer.

And with Simic hitting 12 goals in 16 league appearances this season for Liefering, there’s a strong chance that the Croatian youth international will earn a chance to play for the Red Bull club, with Tottenham no doubt keeping an ear on the ground over his current situation.

Whilst Spurs are interested in Simic, it is more than likely that the Premier League side won’t make a move for the teenager until at least 2023, with the striker currently at the best possible club in Europe to continue his development.

Salzburg’s production line is one of the most impressive and well-run in Europe, and many will be hopeful that Simic can become the next striker to make a name for themselves with the Austrian club, especially Tottenham.

With Harry Kane approaching his thirties and Tottenham starved for a second-choice striker, Simic could be a realistic option for the north London club in 12 months if the forward explodes into life with Salzburg, something many supporters will be eager to see next season.
