Tottenham are reportedly scouting Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen ahead of a potential move in the January transfer window – a player that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg recently compared to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

Club Brugge winger Skov Olsen, 22, is back in form after a disappointing spell in Italy with Bologna. Playing more as a wing-back, he only scored three goals in 71 games. Bologna sold him to Brugge in January for a fee of just £5million.

Since his move to Brugge, the Denmark winger has been flying – having a hand in 27 goals during his 38 appearances. Het Nieuwsblad report that Tottenham want to sign Skov Olsen and have been scouting his performances in Qatar.

A player that Hojbjerg is playing alongside, and a big fan of. Speaking to The Mail earlier this year, Hojbjerg raved about Skov Olsen – comparing the Brugge winger to that of Giggs. He branded him an old-school winger.

“We are improving. We have Andreas Christiansen, Joakim Maehle and look out for Andreas Skov Olsen from Club Brugge. He is an old school winger, Ryan Giggs-style, goes one-against-one and either crosses or shoots.”

Tottenham scouting Skov Olsen: Hojbjerg compared him to Giggs

Skov Olsen would be a wonderful signing, largely because of his versatility. He can play as a wing-back, suiting Antonio Conte’s style – but also provide cover in the front three. Much like Ivan Perisic is currently giving for Tottenham.

The issue for Spurs is, that while he only cost Club Brugge £5million in January, he is likely to be worth a whole lot more than that now. He has scored in this season’s Champions League, and impressing at the World Cup in Qatar.

So, Tottenham might have to pay more than four times Brugge’s outlay to nab his signature. But if they do make their interest concrete in Skov Olsen, Hojbjerg will be the first person to back a deal – judging by his comments in April.
