Atletico Madrid attacker Yannick Carrasco is on Fabio Paratici’s list at Tottenham and Japhet Tanganga could now hand Spurs the ideal chance to secure the Belgian in a swap deal – with Diego Simeone reportedly keen.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano said that the £141k-a-week star was on Tottenham’s shortlist despite a tricky season during 2021-22 – in which Carrasco managed just 13 goal involvements in 44 games. His contract ends in 2024.

Tottenham could do with another winger; Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura are both being linked with the exit door. Carrasco would provide Spurs with an experienced winger, boasting plenty of Champions League quality.

Meanwhile, Simeone is on the lookout for a right-sided defender and a potentially shock move for one of Tottenham’s English players could emerge. They are yet to replace the loss of Kieran Trippier to Newcastle in January.

Carrasco on Tottenham list: Tanganga swap – our view

Spanish reports claim that Tanganga has emerged as a possible contender to fill that role at Atletico Madrid. The Spurs defender spent the entirety of the second half of 2021-22 on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Tanganga will surely be considering an exit at Spurs this summer, with the likes of Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez likely to be above him in the pecking order. So, Atletico Madrid might prove tempting.

If he does decide to pursue interest from Atletico, surely Tottenham should consider including him in a deal for Carrasco? Tottenham are hardly going to pay Carrasco’s full release clause, which is £52million.

But if they include Tanganga, a deal becomes much more affordable. Perhaps, an offer of £30million plus Tanganga would do the trick. Atleti want Tanganga, Spurs want Carrasco. It is a deal that makes utter sense.
